I hope you found a few tutorials to help with the masking and blending modes, but the transitions look good. Maybe just a bit more contrast or lightening of a value in the portrait element since it’s a little murky. Relander uses fairly blank backgrounds but you could consider subtle integration of a suit in the portrait or ground.
