Devynn’s Playing Card Redesign

Artist: Matisse, Medium: Acrylic on 16×20 canvas, Face: Queen, Suit: Hearts

I really enjoy Matisse’s use of line and shape. I tied in aspects from many drawings/paintings he made, such as his female line drawings and snow flowers. I made the flowers resemble hearts (for the card suit) and incorporated the female figure as a Queen. I wanted this piece to look like a trading card almost. I enjoyed playing around with color and making this piece super abstract, yet expressive.

  1. I love this. It is so awesome you decided you use a different medium than photoshop because it really helps to exemplify your inspo artist. Great interpretation of queen of hearts.
